Benefits of garlic
Garlic is a superfood with great health properties that has been consumed as a natural medicine since ancient times. Its properties are based, above all, on its content in two sulphides, allicin and dialyl. However, it also contains amino acids, vitamins A, B and C and minerals such as sulphur, copper, calcium, silicon and potassium.
Below we highlight their medicinal virtues:
Powerful natural antibiotic that fights viruses, bacteria, fungi and parasites.
It has anti-cancer properties.
Antioxidant that prevents aging.
Combats fluid retention and improves kidney function.
Balances the nervous system and prevents disorders such as stress or depression.
Prevents cardiovascular disease, as it improves circulation and reduces cholesterol and high blood pressure.
Lowers blood sugar levels.
Helps to lose weight.
Protects the function of the liver and gallbladder and promotes the elimination of toxins from the body.
Improves the health and appearance of the skin and decreases acne, psoriasis and other skin disorders.
Regulates the digestive process.
It is a natural aphrodisiac.
How do we consume garlic?
The ideal way to benefit from all these curative properties of garlic at a preventive level or as maintenance is to consume 1 clove of raw garlic a day. Although its effects are very potent on an empty stomach, we can combine it with some of our meals to make it feel bad. In case of cooking, it will also be beneficial but will not maintain the same properties.
Tibetan culture also reveals the ancient Tibetan cure for garlic. The monks invented a recipe for garlic macerated in alcohol, as well as a way of consuming it gradually. In this way, our organism gradually assimilates its properties.
Today we can buy garlic oil capsules. These are highly recommended for those who do not tolerate its smell or do not digest it well, as well as for those who do not like to consume it. However, here is a recipe for garlic macerated in olive oil. In this way, we add the virtues of two very healthy foods.
Garlic oil remedy
If possible, we will choose organic garlic. When taking this remedy for medicinal purposes, it is very important that the food is free of pesticides and any chemical substances. Otherwise, it could detract from the positive effects of the treatment and even harm us.
Ingredients
4 cups extra virgin olive oil (1 litre)
30 cloves garlic (45 g)
Preparation
In order to prepare this remedy we will follow the following steps:
Peel all the garlic cloves, cut them in half and put them in a hermetically sealed glass jar.
Add the extra virgin olive oil until the garlic is covered.
Close the bottle well and keep it in a dark, cool and dry place for 30 days. It should not be kept in the fridge.
Every two or three days we can move the bottle a little.
After this time, strain to remove the garlic (which we can also consume) and keep the oil as a medicinal remedy.
How do we take it?
We can take this remedy in various ways, depending on the purpose of the treatment:
Preventively and as maintenance: 1 tablespoon (15 g) a day, alone or mixed with food. We must always consume it raw so that it does not lose its properties.
As an intensive treatment: 3 tablespoons per day (45 g) distributed in 3 doses throughout the day. However, if the digestion alters or causes discomfort we should reduce the dose. Maintain the treatment for one month, pause and resume if necessary.
As a dressing: We can use this oil as a condiment for any dish (salads, pastas, soups, sauces, etc). In this case, if we want a slightly softer taste, we only have to use less garlic or add more oil.
